Okay you've just found QuickIP, now you may be asking yourself, "Hey, what's all this on the frontpage?" Great question, we're glad you asked.
The main page of QuickIp is a quick and easy reference to a lot of useful information about your Internet Connection and Browser Capabilities. We've also thrown in some information about your computer in general just for fun

Alright, lets get on with it. The table below represents the main information from the Home page. The "Detectee" as we like to call it (basically, what the script is looking for) is on the left, and a breif description on the right.

| IP Address | This is your external IP Address or your ISPs external proxy address. This is assigned to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider). An IP Address is a numerical identification given to devices which need to communicate within a computer network. Learn more about IP Addresses here. |
| Hostname | This is the hostname assigned to your IP Address. A hostname is the name which a networked device is known by, and is found by doing a reverse DNS lookup (rDNS) on the IP. Most users will have a hostname which was assigned by their ISP, while some may have a Corporate hostname, associated with their company perhaps, instead. Examples (these are fictitious, and assumed invalid): Home User: d-192-168-100-53.hsd.sanfran.someisp.net Corporate: s-192-168-100-53.ext.sw-region.bigcompany.com |
| Operating System | This is your computers Operating System. Whether it be Windows, Linux/Unix, MacOSX, etc. If our detection script mis-identified your OS please Contact Us. |
| User-Agent | The user-agent string is sent as part of the HTTP request from your browser to the server. It will typically include the application name, version number, encryption strength, operating system, and the language. |
| Browser | This is what Web Browser you are using, for example, Firefox, Internet Exploer (IE), Safari, etc. It will only show the browser's 'Major Version' and 'Minor Version' as defined by the user-agent; nothing further. Example: Firefox 2.0.0.17 will only show as Firefox 2.0 |
| Referer | This shows what page brought you here. For example, if you clicked on a link to us from Google, you'll most likely notice your Referer containing the text 'google.com'. Try it out!
